2022 AAG Conference, Pre-Conference Workshop
Recognition at Last, people ageing with Post Polio Syndrome
Invitation for workshop participants
About the workshop
The Australian Association of Gerontology (AAG) is hosting a workshop on the experiences and needs of people ageing with Post Polio Syndrome (PPS). The workshop will be held on 22nd November 2022 from 9.30am-12.30pm, as part of the AAG 2022 conference in Adelaide, at the Adelaide Convention Centre
Presentations from experts will include Polio Survivors, Clinicians, Researchers and Aged Care Service
Providers. The workshop will ask:
• What are the unique experiences and needs of people ageing with PPS?
• What does it take to be an inclusive service or community for people living with PPS?
AAG workshops attract a multidisciplinary audience, and the AAG will develop a paper summarising the workshop, to raise awareness of the hidden experiences and needs of Polio Survivors. The workshop is being hosted by AAG in partnership with Post Polio Victoria and Celebrate Ageing Ltd.
We would encourage Polio survivors to attend these workshops and participate, ‘nothing about us without us’.
